Staff - What to bring

What to Bring

CLOTHING:

Khaki Shorts (for opening and closing days) 2 pair if possible

Belt to be worn with Khaki shorts mentioned above

T-Shirts and shorts (enough for a week at a time) shirts should be long enough that your midriff is not exposed when reaching above your head

NOTE:  shorts must be long enough to cover your bottom when you bend over

            tank tops with a wide strap is acceptable but must fit in a manner that your chest is not exposed when bending over

            no spaghetti straps or strapless shirts allowed

Jeans (mandatory for horses) 

Cool Cotton long sleeve shirt (helpful in the sun while riding horses)

Boots (mandatory for horses)

Tennis shoes 2 pair (if possible)

Shower shoes

Sandals (for pool)

Modest Swimwear (no 2-piece)  must be all one piece for female counselors

Rain coat/jacket

Jacket or hoodie for cool mornings or rainy days

Underwear, socks, etc.

Plain white t-shirt that can get paint stained (Ladies make sure you can not see through yours if wet)


OTHER:

Twin sheets

Twin mattress cover (optional)

Pillow

Blanket (s)

Sleeping bag (optional)

Footlocker, plastic tote or similar item (to hold belongings) 

 Laundry bag 

 Insect repellent

 Bible

Toiletries

Medications (if prescription it must be in original container with prescription attached)

Towels & wash cloths

Flashlight

Hats/sunglasses

Sunscreen

Pens/pencils/paper


*Theme night attire – staff is required to dress for the occasion.You do not need to spend a lot of money – be creative. The campers will have fun dressing up if counselors are having fun!!!  Garage Sales, re-sale shops, Goodwill etc. are good/cheap places to find fun stuff for Theme Nights

Please bring something from your school to decorate the Counselor Cabin with...a banner, rug, t-shirt...anything with school spirit!


What NOT to Bring

*Under no circumstances are the following items allowed at camp! Bringing such items may result in dismissal from camp staff. Remember, campers are watching everything you do!

Magazines 

Food/Candy/Gum 

TV’s

Laptops

Ipads

Game-boys, Nintendo games, I-pods, etc.

Cell Phones (you will be required to leave your cell phone in a designated area except during your time off)

Tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco etc.)

Alcohol of any kind (beer, wine, etc.)

Illegal drugs

Pagers

Guns

Knives

Fireworks

Body piercings

Expensive jewelry

Music - must be approved by management or kept in Counselor Cabin

Headphones

Girls – No two piece swimwear

Boys – No Speedos

Clothing supporting obscene or immoral behavior

Punk & New Wave hairdos or hair color

*Remember, this is camp. Your clothes will get dirty! Bring play clothes!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Directions

From Houston…Take I-45 North to Huntsville, Exit at FM 1696 which is exit #123, go left under the overpass. Continue on FM 1696 for approximately 1 ½1/2 miles to Hwy 75 N, turn right (north) on Hwy 75 and go approximately 4 miles to the camp entrance which is on the left side of the road. Watch for the sign!

 

From Dallas…Take I-45 South, south of Madisonville exit at FM 1696 which is exit #123, go 1 1/2 miles to Hwy 75N, turn right (north) on Hwy 75 and go approximately 4 miles to the camp entrance which is on the left side of the road. Watch for the sign! ½

 

Once you reach the red gate keep going…you will pass the horse barn on your right…keep going until you reach the top of the hill where the swimming pool is…You made it!!!
